I am curious about this because I *think* I want to do something similar.
I was thinking I could make a lifecast, sculpt clay over it, cast the new sculpture, cast THAT with resin (or some other very hard material) and then mold masks over it.
Bruno, The process you describe is exactly how we did it and the final form was cast in a material called Densite, a very hard concrete-like plaster that can withstand a lot of abuse....
